A Heritage in Bloom is the creation of Wallace Chan at the request of Chow Tai Fook, one of the world’s largest retail jewelers. This elaborate necklace isn’t Chow Tai Fook’s only major jewelry investment, this company proudly owns the world’s most expensive diamond ring, known as the Pink Star which cost them $71.2 million dollars.
It’s no surprise that Chow Tai Fook requested Wallace Chan to create A Heritage in Bloom. Chen is a masterful jewelry artist who founded his own gemstone carving workshop in 1987 when he was just 17. Chen is the first Chinese jewelry artist to ever have the privilege to exhibit and deliver speeches at the Gemological Institute of America. To add to his accomplishments, Chen invented the “Wallace Cut,” which creates the illusion of a three dimensional image inside a gemstone.
When discussing his partnership with Chow Tai Fook to make A Heritage in Bloom, Chen stated, “we have a shared dream – to realize a creation that can be passed on from generation to generation with this once-in-a-lifetime encounter.” Furthermore, when Chen saw the breathtaking 104 ct. main diamond he said, “When I saw the petals of the light in the stone – the infinite reflections of light. It bloomed in my heart like a flower of my dreams. And it inspired the necklace’s design.” The necklace required 47,000 hours to make and 22 artisans lead by Chen. Upon the necklace’s completion Dr. Henry Cheng, chairman of Chow Tai Fook, stated, “Today we complete a journey we began five years ago, and we could not be more proud of the exceptional and historic creation that has emerged.”
Who Does The World’s Most Expensive Necklace Belong To?
A Heritage in Bloom remains in the possession of Chow Tai Fook who has no immediate plans of selling the necklace. Certainly if Chow Tai Fook ever decides to sell A Heritage in Bloom, all eyes will be on the necklace of its future lucky owner.
